Perimenopause. For most women, the very word brings a flood of emotions: confusion, frustration, even fear. You start noticing weight gain, sleep issues, brain fog, cravings, and suddenly every health “solution” out there seems to be shouting at you:

👉 “Do intermittent fasting but make it OMAD!”👉 “Go keto!”👉 “Try this detox just juices for 7 days!”

And here’s the truth: midlife doesn’t need more extremes. It needs simplification.

Why Extremes Backfire in Perimenopause

Your 40s and 50s are a hormonal roller coaster. Estrogen, progesterone, and even your stress and hunger hormones are shifting daily. Throw in a restrictive diet, punishing workouts, or a 5-day “cleanse,” and your body gets one message: stress.

And stress in perimenopause?

  1. Raises cortisol

  2. Worsens sleep

  3. Slows metabolism

  4. And actually makes weight gain more likely

This is why so many women try all the things and end up feeling worse.

What Your Body Really Wants Right Now

Perimenopause isn’t asking for extremes. It’s asking for consistency, calm, and care.

  • Balanced meals with enough protein, healthy fats, and carbs, not cutting out entire food groups.

  • Movement you enjoy - strength training, yoga, walks, not back-to-back HIIT classes.

  • Sleep and stress rituals - a wind-down routine, morning sunlight, quiet moments not overloading your schedule.

  • A kinder mindset - because you can’t “punish” your way to health in this season.

Simplifying Doesn’t Mean Doing Nothing

Here’s what most women get wrong: Simplifying isn’t about giving up on your health. It’s about stripping away the chaos, the gimmicks, and the unsustainable hacks and focusing on the foundations that actually work.

When you do that, your body can finally exhale. Your hormones stabilize. And weight loss, energy, and calm start to feel… possible again.

Perimenopause isn’t the time to complicate your life with diet trends, endless supplements, or punishing routines.

It’s the time to simplify, slow down, and support your body so it can do what it’s designed to do: find balance.
