Indian desserts are undeniably delicious, but let’s be honest—most of them are loaded with refined carbs, sugar, and ghee. While they’re perfect for an occasional indulgence, enjoying them has become a regular indulgence for most of us, thanks to the never-ending weekend gatherings.

While most women in perimenopause are already struggling with stubborn weight, low energy and other unpleasant changes in their body, such indulgences only make the journey harder.

But what if you could enjoy the same indulgent flavors without the sugar rush or guilt?

Enter my Healthy Rasmalai Knock-Off! Inspired by some creative versions I spotted on Instagram, I put my spin on it that’s simple, nutritious, and perfect for a quick dessert fix.

What makes this recipe special? It’s a no-cook, no-fuss version that swaps the traditional ingredients for wholesome, nutrient-dense alternatives. And there’s a secret ingredient that takes this dessert to the next level—think creamy, crunchy, and totally unexpected. (Can you guess what it is?)

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup roasted makhana

  • 3-4 medjool dates

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

  • A pinch of cardamom powder

  • A few saffron threads mixed in 1/4 cup water

  • 2 tbsp pistachios, lightly roasted and crushed

Instructions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients into a smooth, thick slurry.

  2. Add in some of the crushed pistachios and mix well.

  3. Pour the mixture into bowls and refrigerate for 2-3 hours (or longer if you can resist!).

  4. Top with more crushed pistachios and serve chilled.

The result? A creamy, luscious dessert that brings all the nostalgic flavors of Rasmalai with none of the sugar overload. Perfect for those moments when you want to treat yourself but keep it healthy.

Try it out and let me know how it turns out!
